Compress a PDF without uploading it

Reduce PDF file size directly in your browser. Standard files stay on your device while Ghostscript WebAssembly processes them locally.

Compression level

By using our service, you agree to our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service

No file upload to CompressMyPDF

The standard compressor reads the PDF from browser memory and does not send its bytes to our application servers.

Verifiable local processing

Open your browser network tools while compressing: the Ghostscript engine loads, but the PDF itself is processed on your device.

How to compress locally

  1. 1

    Choose your PDF

Select one or more PDF files. They are read into this browser tab.

  2. 2

    Choose a preset

Use Maximum for a smaller result, Balanced for everyday use, or High quality for print.

  3. 3

    Download the result

Save the compressed copy to your device. The original file is not changed.

Local compression questions

Does my PDF leave the browser?

Not in the standard compressor. The file is processed locally and is not uploaded to a CompressMyPDF server.

Can I verify the local processing claim?

Yes. Open the Network panel in your browser developer tools before selecting a PDF. You can inspect requests while the compression runs.

Is the Google Drive flow also local?

Compression is local, but the explicit Drive workflow transfers the selected file directly between your browser and Google Drive. That flow is disclosed separately and analytics are disabled there.
