Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 20, 2026
The standard CompressMyPDF workflow processes files in browser memory without uploading document bytes to our servers. The optional Google Drive workflow is explained separately below.
- Standard processing happens in your browser
- Document contents are not included in analytics
- Google Drive access occurs only when you explicitly choose it
1. PDF File Handling
When using our browser-based PDF compression tool:
- Files are processed entirely within your browser
- No PDFs are uploaded to our servers
- Limited product analytics use aggregate ranges rather than document details
2. Service Usage
On standard website pages, we use limited product analytics to operate and improve the service:
- PostHog and Ahrefs may receive technical usage events on standard pages
- Compression events use aggregate file-size, count, duration, and outcome ranges
- File names, exact file sizes, and document contents are not included in product events
- PDF contents are never sent to analytics providers
- PostHog and Ahrefs are disabled throughout the Google Drive flow
3. PDF Processing
In the standard workflow, PDF files are compressed directly on your device and document bytes are not sent to CompressMyPDF servers. The optional Google Drive workflow transfers the selected file between your browser and Google.
4. Technology Stack
Our browser-based compression uses:
- WebAssembly (Ghostscript 10) for local PDF processing in your browser
- Client-side JavaScript for file handling - no server uploads
- Google Identity Services and the Google Drive API only when you explicitly use the Drive integration
5. Google Drive Integration
When you open a PDF through Google Drive, CompressMyPDF requests only the permissions needed to open that user-selected file and save a new compressed copy.
- The PDF is transferred directly between Google Drive and your browser and is compressed locally
- The original Drive file is never overwritten; a new copy is saved in the source folder or, if necessary, a CompressMyPDF folder
- The Google access token is kept only in browser memory and is not stored by CompressMyPDF
- Drive file identifiers are removed from the visible URL immediately; operators should also redact query strings from infrastructure logs
- Disconnecting revokes the current Google access token
6. Compression Limitations
Our PDF compression tool has these limits:
- Maximum PDF size: 500MB per file (limited by your device memory)
- Compression quality depends on your device's processing power
- No compression quality guarantees
- No liability for compression results
